The Constitution

The French Australian Lawyers Society is a not-for-profit, independent, non-religious and non-political organisation.

The objects of the establishment of the Society are:

  • to bring together French and Australian lawyers;
  • to promote, develop and strengthen the knowledge and understanding of French law amongst Australian lawyers and of Australian law amongst French lawyers; and
  • to promote the mutual understanding of both legal systems and facilitate a mutual diploma recognition of qualifications.

The Society is managed by a Committee which is elected every year.

Any person who is a qualified lawyer practising law in France or in Australia or any person who has a genuine interest in French and Australian law is eligible to be a member of the Society.

Any corporate body based in France or in Australia can also become a member.
