NSW: 2016 Events

Brexit Seminar

On 30 November 2016, FALS held a seminar on Brexit at the Alliance Française in Sydney.

The seminar was presented by Brian Hillman and Phil Radford who each provided a different perspective on various aspects of Brexit including the vote, the result, the figures, the consequences, will it last and what it all means.  Brian provided a perspective against Brexit and Phil provided a perspective for Brexit.  Both presentations were well researched, interesting and thought provoking.  Over 40 guests were captivated by the topic which was evidenced by the many questions put to both Brian and Phil at the end.

Following the presentation, guests were treated to French wine and delicious canapés served by the Bonjour Café.  It was a fantastic evening and FALS thanks Brian and Phil, and all guests for attending.

Networking drinks at Small Bar

On 4 August 2016, the FALS committee organised networking drinks at Small Bar in Sydney.  Members and friends of FALS had a chance to catch up over wine and nibbles.

Networking drinks at Palings

On 17 March 2016, the FALS committee organised networking drinks at Palings in Sydney.  It was a casual evening where members of the Sydney legal community, both French and Australian, caught up over drinks and nibbles.  Guests had the chance to discuss their experiences travelling, working and studying in France and Australia.

Annual General Meeting 2016

On 2 February 2016, the fourth Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the French Australian Lawyers Society was held at the French Consulate-General in Sydney.  Over 15 members attended the meeting and those who could not physically attend voted by proxy.

We are pleased to announce that at this meeting the 2016 committee was voted in and a small number of changes were made to the constitution pursuant to special resolutions.

After the formalities of the meeting concluded, everyone was able to catch up and celebrate the AGM with a glass of wine.  Many members then carried on to have dinner at Le Pub to continue catching up over some more wine and a French meal.

We thank our members for attending the AGM and participating in this important meeting for the Society.  We also thank the French Consulate-General in Sydney for welcoming us into their offices.

Please see more information on the 2016 Committee here and the Constitution can be found here.
